I cannot remember ever getting excited when going into Ikea. We went in often since we lived only an hour or so away from one and I have had Ikea furniture in my room for a long as I remember but trips there never excited me. However, since uni and especially since having my own flat, I LOVE it! I think there are Ikea’s all over the world but if your unsure what they are they are basically a MASSIVE store that sells flat pack furniture and all things home ware and décor. I’ve been twice in the last 3 months and have come out with arms full of goodies on both trips. The market place at the end is my idea of heaven seeing lots of pretty things to jazz up my new flat and I have so many things that have zero purpose! Like a jar that has one of those hook and catch lids? Sure you know the ones. If I had brought a few I could put pasta and rice and stuff in it but I have just the one. Not entirely sure what to do with it. sits on my dressing table a bit lonely so if anyone has any functions for it please leave them in the comments! I just seem to get a little bit excited by seeing all the sets together and just wanting that kitchen and lounge and bedroom and study to look just like they do in the store! It’s impossible however. One, you will never be able to put it together quite the same. Two, my student budget wont allow for me to do it and three, name me one kind architect who has designed a house will equal square rooms! Thus, the better and more suitable option is to just live in side it!
Here me out here, even though the kitchens aren’t fully functioning nor are the toilets, you can eat at the café and use the guest toilets (fair enough meatballs may get a tad boring). You could try out every bed and decide which you like. Take advantage of the endless closet space and sit on every single type of sofa you could possibly imagine! What is quite possibly the biggest advantage to this however is the possibility for the most epic game of hide and seek ever! Imagine playing hide and seek inside an Ikea. That’s a 5 year olds (or indeed a 19 year olds) idea of bliss right there. I’m getting excited just thinking about it!
However, never have I been one to complain especially about the joys of Ikea, but my last trip came with quite a disappointment. I had picked up, among lots of other things, a set of knives, forks and spoons. I figured its always handy to have a spare set and in my house you never know when the next load will go in the dishwasher. So I strolled up to the self-scan and at the end it requested ID and the attendant came over. I had assumed it was for the candles but no. I wasn’t allowed to buy my cutlery. You have to be 21 to buy the super dangerous butter knives. What got me was that I was old enough to drive to the Ikea, rent my own apartment, pay my own bills but not buy a set of knives and forks. So I’m sorry Ikea, you let me down on that one!
So there you have it. if you ever lose me look in Ikea. Ill be hiding somewhere in there getting excited over lots of useless house ware items. I have a few bits from there so maybe I’ll do a ‘haul’ of such or post pictures of what I do with my bits J
Thank you again for tuning in! See you tomorrow!
Love and Hugs
